The White Card is a WA safety induction for personnel working in the Construction industry. The course can be completed online in 1-2 hours. Refer to Frontline STS (below) or Blue Dog Training (below) for further information.

Most organisations in the Mining industry require a Heavy Rigid (HR) Truck Licence.

Applicants/ Candidates/ Employees

This will depend on the job and the employer you work for. In today’s market we recommend all our clients pay the current market rates and as a minimum, we will always verify against any relevant award, EBA or the current market rate. In most cases our clients pay at market or above award hourly rates.

The jobs we have change day by day. In general, we have ongoing needs for technical, trades, skilled and unskilled people in the Mining, Construction, Engineering and Logistics sectors. We service over 120 clients in these areas as the sole provider, so occasionally we are requested to source executive and management roles. For a full list of our current roles please visit our website.

You can start as soon as we can get you through our onboarding process and client approval process. This starts with submitting your resume and completing our registration process. The registration includes the completion of personal information, a medical questionnaire, and a Safety questionnaire. This can take a little time as 60 minutes. Upon assessment we will request an interview and provision of documentation. Ideally, we would like to turn this around in 24 hours, however it will depend on your availability.

Following success at the Interview and screening stages you will be ready for Client approval and Mobilisation

This varies from client to client and can be as little as several hours to several days and largely depends on site and client requirements. As a minimum Mobilisation may include the supply of your banking and superannuation details, a site induction, drug and alcohol screen (where applicable) and provision of PPE (where applicable).

If you are working for RecruitWest directly we pay weekly. Pay periods end on a Sunday, processed on Wednesday at the latest and paid into your bank account on the Wednesday. When the pay lands in your account is dependent on the who you Bank with.

Whilst we are currently in a shortage of people in all sectors the opportunities to get in the mines are not as easy as some would promote. There are some skill sets that transition into mining well. The clients we provide to generally request we find experienced personnel in all job types and occasionally we will be requested to source suitable people to put through as trainees.

If you have no exposure to working on mine sites, we highly recommend you consider the conditions you are comfortable with. Consider the rosters, shift work, long working hours, heat, cold and isolation. We highly recommend you discuss it in length with your family and work through the positives and negatives of working away.

A question that is always hard to answer given there are so many variables in the decision-making processes. Whilst we seek feedback on the reasons why you have not been successful for a particular role, the most common reasons revolve around experience, qualifications or attitude.

More and more clients are focusing on attitude over aptitude, so to improve your chances of being successful we suggest focusing on good communication, presentation and being transparent and honest with employers.

Clients

Our candidates will not be presented to you unless they have completed our full assessment process. This includes pre-screening of resume, right to work, qualifications and licenses, followed by our registration process including the collection of personal information, medical questionnaire, and safety questionnaire.

Once a candidate has completed the above, they are invited for an interview with one of our consultants and assessed in the suitability for the role and the match the criteria you are seeking in the person for that role.

Background checks are completed and a final assessment is made by the consultant on whether the candidate is suitable to present for your role. Sometimes we will present people who do not meet all the criteria, but we believe who are suitable based on our findings and you will receive a brief on all our findings.

How long is a piece of string! So many factors influence our ability to source an employee for you. In general, we know within 48 hours (about 2 days) of running our resourcing campaigns the potential timeframe of securing a suitable employee. Our continuous programs of resourcing in these timeframes

In today’s employee market we use a multitude of channels to source applicants. Our biggest asset is our database, which holds more than 95,000 applicants and 15,000 registered candidates. We are continually processing people in the database via direct campaigns and contact. In addition, we top up through job boards, social media, community networks and referral programs.

Our services vary from client to client and are designed considering your size and structure. We are very transparent with our costing structures for both Contract Labour Hire, Contract Hire to Permanent and Permanent Workforce Solutions.

Our Contract Labour Hire rates include the Statutory Cost associated with Payroll (Superannuation, Payroll Tax, Insurances and Long Service Leave) and a Fixed Margin which covers internal costs. Adopting a fixed cost reduces cost creep if the Pay Rates are increased.

Depending on the role, industry, site and mobilisation requirements, you can expect mark-ups on pay rates anywhere from 30% to 50%

Our Placement options for employing someone via RecruitWest vary and can be on a Set Fee, Amortise Fee or Consulting Fee basis. We do not calculate our fees on a percentage of salary basis, preferring to work on a consulting fee basis which varies dependent on the time and resources we believe are required to source for the role. We request an engagement fee to facilitate the service and account for this in the final cost invoiced once an employee is engaged.
